Telakka

Theatre Telakka is a small professional theatre, where the ideas have always been big. The atmospheric theatre is located on the third floor of Culture House Telakka, just a couple of minutes away from the Tampere railway station.

In the mid 90’s, three local professional theatre groups decided to join forces. As their venue, they found an old grain storehouse near Tullintori, Tampere. Twenty years later Theatre Telakka is an integral part of local culture life, and has also made a name for itself outside Tampere. The theatre received the State Prize for performing arts for their international collaboration in 2013, and in 2016 Theatre Telakka won Theatre of the Year -award. In 2017 the theatre received the Olavi Veistäjä award, and a recognition from the Eino Salmelainen foundation.
